U.S. life expectancy (預期壽命) fell by a year and a half in 2020, the
largest one-year decline since World War II.
The decrease for both Black Americans and Hispanic Americans was even worse:
three years.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released the calculations for
2020 early Wednesday.

is responsible for close to 74% of the overall life expectancy decline.
Killers other than COVID-19 played a role, too, as drug overdoses pushed life
expectancy down, and rising homicides were a small but significant reason for
the decline for Black Americans.

Top U.S. and South Korean officials agreed to try to convince North Korea to
return to talks on its nuclear program（核計畫）.
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman was in Seoul on Thursday as part
of her tour in Asia.
Seoul says she and South Korean Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong decided to
continue close consultations, to get North Korea to return to talks.
